Often I joke to myself and wonder what my students would think of me with the things I choose to eat. Because I really love cake and on (more than one) occasion I have all that unhealthy stuff like donuts, pizza and chips and I really enjoy it.
I know that it’s not good for me and my body is working hard to digest all of that but it tastes so good, you know? We all deal with our own addictions and obsessions and sugar is mine.
So I decided it was time for me to do something about it, cleanse my whole system and start new. So here goes my 3-day juice cleanse with fellow Perth business, Refresh Juice and Cleanse. In the next few days you’ll hear of my experiences with how I went with it all.
To set you up, let me begin by sharing how I prepared for my juice cleanse.
It’s pretty important to taper in and out of your cleanse. I guess, just like you would if you were training for a marathon. On a side note, I watched The Barkley Marathons documentary on Netflix and it’s pretty insane. You should watch it, just to give you some perspective on how our human spirit is resolute. If there’s people out there who can run a 60 hour race on and off trails, I can do this cleanse. Easy. I’ve just gotta be tough.
The day before my cleanse, I eased off by making my own cold-pressed juice for breakfast and lunch. For dinner, I enjoyed a beautiful raw salad with all goodness like avocado. I made sure it was dairy-free and gluten-free. Basically, I was preparing my body for the nutrients in the juices so that my body could easily digest them without having the bulk of my previous meals.
In preparation for my juice cleanse, I also set myself an intention. What’s an intention you might ask? I talk about intention a lot in my yoga classes and it’s something that really helps to guide what we do because it reminds us of our overriding purpose.
I knew it wasn’t going to be an easy ride (especially with my addiction, noted above). So when things get tough, an intention can remind you to commit and keep you aligned with your highest potential. That’s really what it is. Something pure, simple and from the heart.
So with that, may I embark on this glorious journey and give myself this amazing gift to my body, cake-free.
Stay with me. I’ll be posting. And cleansing of course.
